How to Perform a Process
I chose to write about how to perform a process because making something to eat takes a lot longer to prepare forget ready. I ended up choosing to write on how to paint your nails because I thought of all the people that go to the nail salon to get their nails done. The cost of getting your nails done can be very expensive, and I think by teaching people how to paint their nails, they could just subtract the cost of getting their nails done from the list of expenses. I had a really hard time in deciding what I wanted to do because I didn't want to do something that someone else would do, and at the same time, I didn't want to choose something no one can relate to. I usually don't paint my nails, but I figured that it was a great way to practice. I did not realize that is there were a lot of steps in giving the directions to paint your nails. While I was doing my outline, I had to go through the steps myself and use words that anyone could comprehend even if it is their first time doing their nails. It made me realize that simple, everyday tasks are not so simple when you have to break it down and explain all the steps. It opened my eyes to see the different tasks we do and how we don't even think about the steps we have to take to get to our finished product. We often do such task without thinking, and yet it is hard to give step by step instructions on how to complete that task.
I chose to present my process essay through a video because I thought it was the only way to give my audience a visual aid, while demonstrating and explaining the different steps. It would have been hard to teach my peers to paint their nails if I did it in their presence. i wanted them to see what the steps should look like and I didn't want to make any careless mistakes. This is why I chose to make a video, because I could edit out the part I didn't want and start all over if it wasn't the quality I wanted. I didn't want to give a speech and then make a mistake that I couldn't fix. Also, I tend to talk a lot, and if I did a speech, I would have probably gone over the five minutes limit. If I did a video, I could edit scenes out to fit the five minute requirement.
